As you can remember, this year we are cooking from #321sourcesofinspiration, the first being Lidl Kitchen. Check below some of the recipes tried by our gang. 🙂 Focaccia with cherry tomatoes – the recipe here – I replaced a quarter of the amount of flour with wholemeal flour. Banana and yogurt muffins – recipe here

Ep. 98 – Black Forest gâteau
Out of love for you (and especially for me: P), Chef made us the Black Forest cake today, the famous German cake also known as the Black Forest gâteau or Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. The cake, in its original version, contains four main ingredients: a chocolate top, cherries, whipped cream and cherry liqueur (sour cherry). In our
Special [ipsebrexit] ep. – winter slaw
I wanted to make this salad last year, for the December bookclub, I even bought radishes, but in vain, I didn’t have time. 🙂 Oana, on the other hand, did not give up, so today we have the remaining recipe. A fancy one. 😀 — Good thing I read Jamie Oliver’s book of Christmas recipes
Ep. 97 – maneesh
Manakish, manaeesh, man’ousheh comes from the Middle East (originally from Lebanon) and is a flat bread similar to pizza. The dough can be covered with thyme, cheese or minced meat. Thyme topping and other spices are called Za’atar. I used Paul Hollywood’s recipe, which says that for one serving (3 large pieces) you need 500g
Ep. 96 – winter sauce with tomatoes, cheese (urdă) and spinach
Today we have a very good recipe for the weather outside. From my mother, because I’m in a fight with spinach ever since I was a kid. :))) Well, ok, I admit, I eat it raw in salad, but that’s about it. For the time being. 🙂 And where do you dream of spinach and
Cookingbookclub 7
Welcome to 2020! I hope the pots, spoons and your hob are ready for a new season #disasterinthekitchen. 🙂 Don’t panic if you burn something, we all know that lightly burnt food is the best… plus you get the badges of honor of our extremely select club. 😛 This year we deviate a little from
Ep. 93 – couscous with carrots and almonds
Well, today we have the kind of food that can be, as the case may be, the main course or side dish. 🙂 In fact, the recipe was with bulgur, only it is fine, thank you, on the store shelf. 🙂 So I found the couscous in the pantry. I put a cup with about
Ep. 92 – turkey drowning soup: D
Well, if we all ended up healthy in the new year twenty-twenty, I stole a recipe from my friends with Hungarian grandparents. 😛 Pulyka nyuvaszto or turkey drowning soup translated takes you out of the drunkenness of the holidays with the speed of Transylvanian light. 🙂 How do you make a turkey drowning soup? In
Ep. 91 – 321 dough (linzer, isler)
Well, you will see the best pictures today, the ones for guests, but to get to this level I can tell you that I burned a few trays of cookies in the last two or three Christmases. 🙂 Dough 321 as I name it, to make it easier to remember, is a very fine dough
Special ep. – panettone
When you don’t know how to make brioche, what do you do? You make panettone. 🙂 On one of the few times I tried to make a brioche, it grew, looked impeccable, but had no taste. Because I forgot to put salt in it. :))) It’s just that this year I discovered some candied fruits
Cookingbookclub 6 | Jamies’s recipes
The last book of the year to read & cook was Jamie Oliver’s Christmas Cookbook. And now, good news and bad news, which do you want first? 😀 The bad one, I knew it. :)) It says that those many recipes are still in the works, because everyone was busy, plus, maximum disaster !!!!, Chef
Ep. 89 – a side of carrots with oranges
As you may know, Romanians eat a lot of potatoes compared to other nations. The Romanians from Transylvania are famous because they know how to put potatoes in everything, including bread. 😛 Well, if you’re tired of potatoes and want to change (or maybe you want to combine potatoes with something new, lol ??: D),
Ep. 86 – bean salad
The only disaster that can happen is not to find canned beans on the shelf :)) Well, a can of red beans mix with tomatoes, red onion and green parsley, finely chopped, plus some oil and lemon or lime juice. It is eaten with tortillas (because that’s all there is in the house :))). —
Ep. 85 – chicken cannelloni
Because in each of us lies an undiscovered nona Traiana, today we have cannelloni. 🙂 Cannelloni, the pasta, not cannoli, the dessert. :))) It’s the kind of food you’d better eat in the city than at home. At the restaurant, at friends, at your lover. Of course, if you are different (beautiful, but misunderstood as
Ep. 84 – super fast veggie borscht
Well, you definitely missed a 15 minute recipe. 🙂 And an improvisation “disaster in the kitchen”. :)))) Look in the fridge and find about two slightly dehydrated carrots and an onion. Clean, wash, cut them into pieces with the fixed idea of making a soup-something. 🙂 Throw the vegetables in a pot with some water
Cookingbookclub 6
The latest book this year to read & cook is Jamie Oliver’s Christmas Cookbook. Jamie wrote the perfect book, with seasonal recipes for all categories – carnivores, vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free, etc. All you have to do is go through it, choose your recipes for the seasonal menu, buy the ingredients and get to work. 🙂
Ep. 83 – walnuts and zucchini muffins
How disastrous I am, I never thought it would come out right away! And more than that, that they will be fluffy like that good childhood cake and that they will melt in the mouth, being so tasty…. Super ultra mega yummy! ❤ ❤ Recipe: 1 cup flour, 1/2 sachet baking powder, a pinch of
Special ep. – pumpkin cream soup
From Oana, we have a special recipe today. 🙂 So I don’t know what’s with the extra healthy vegan recipes (not where the idea that vegans are extra healthy comes from, but that’s another discussion…), but you say that the authors conceived them during a delirium in which the thought was on steaks and cheeses,
Ep. 82 – zucchini noodles with sauce
Well, it doesn’t matter the sauce – although, obviously, it was about it in the recipe on page one hundred and seventy-something, because the disaster in me lit up when saw the zucchini noodles. 🙂 Because if we don’t burn things in the kitchen, my multiple personalities and I like to push our limits. 😛
Cookingbookclub 5 | recipes with veggies :)
This year’s number five book to read & cook was The Oh She Glows Cookbook, by Angela Liddon. Now, not that we would be slightly anti-vegan, but it was not the most successful book suggested at cookingbookclub. 🙂 Although, the explanations for Angela’s limited success with our gang are much simpler: the book ended up
Ep. 81 – ciabatta
Chef says, let’s make ciabatta, my oven bakes better than yours. In case you didn’t know, my oven is also a small disaster, it burns everything it catches. :))) Well, said and done, I go to the home of the miracle oven and the process went as follows: Chef made ciabatta and I looked at
Ep. 80 – meat pie
Well, what to do when you boiled some hen in a soup, that probably caught the pre-Brexit times? 🙂 You cook a meat pie. You take the boiled meat nicely and pass it through the mincer. Because that’s the only way it can be made edible. 😛 Mix the minced meat with a beaten egg
Ep. 79 – wholemeal pasta pudding with eggplant
Well, this is obviously an invented title. 🙂 But what would be the combination of pasta, eggplant and mozzarella called? (If you have better ideas, I look forward to them). 🙂 This recipe looks like a lasagna, only I put a limited amount of pasta (did you succeed? I did it!). So you measure 100g
Ep. 78 – ramen
Ramen soups are a Japanese dish, an adaptation of the 19th century of Chinese wheat noodles. Traditionally, noodles are served in a chicken or fish soup, with soy sauce and various toppings (pork, seaweed, etc.). In this case, the noodles are from the package, Vietnamese. 🙂 Yessss, from a packet of soup. :))) Boil in
Ep. 77 – baked chestnuts
I have to admit that until I got to Baia Mare I didn’t eat chestnuts. 🙂 In recent years they have also appeared in supermarkets, but years ago you couldn’t find much of that in the store. Meanwhile, the chestnuts from Maramureș exist only with the name and the festival from September. There are two
Cookingbookclub 5
We have two more books and the year is over. 🙂 This year’s number five book to read & cook is The Oh She Glows Cookbook, by Angela Liddon. There is also a sequel to the book, if you are passionate about vegan recipes, you might like it. You can safely skip the introductory part
Special ep. – Oktoberfest Marillenknödel
As the guys say, Ich wart’ seit WochenAuf diesen TagUnd tanz’ vor Freude, über den Asphalt Die Toten Hosen, Tage wie diese Well dear cats, you didn’t think you’d escape without a special Oktoberfest episode with something sweet and sour, did you? 😉 Marillenknödel or apricot dumplings come from the Austro-Czech area, but are also
Ep. 74 – minciunele (sweet fried ribbons)
Minciunele (in English, little lies) or scovergi or sweet fried ribbons, a traditional Romanian sweet pastry. 6 egg yolks, 100g wine, 1 teaspoon butter, flour as it needs. Fried in an oil bath. Oioioioiiii how good they were !!! ❤ I could tell a lie that I made them, but no, I’m too much of
Ep. 73 – breakfast burrito
Whole grain pita (accidentally found at Lidl), 2-egg omelet, pickled cucumbers. Rolled like pancakes, wrapped in foil, eaten in the car. Disastrous fast. Here you have, a breakfast on the go. :)) Can you use regular pita? Yes, but you need to warm them before, because there are not very elastic. Can other fillings be
Special ep. – yellow string beans with onion
Yellow string beans with onions. Episode 4. Carmen mother… Take a 401 pages book with recipes for grills, pies and other things that Americans eat at the barbecue. Okay, 376 if you don’t count the covers, the contents list and some nonsense. Read it once. Forget about it. Read it again. Think about. And conclude:
Ep. 71 – potato salad with mint sauce
Just when I thought I had tried all the possible variants of potato salad, ups, I found another one. 🙂 Extremely easy to do even by the disaster of me, the most complicated thing being boiling potatoes. :)) For this type of salad, the best are red potatoes, which do not crumble. Good luck finding
Ep. 70 – ice tea
For the destructive heat outside (or for the heat inside you). 😛 Well, what could be more refreshing than a cold drink with ice? 🙂 And as beer makes you fat and leads to diabetes, today we have a healthy, organic, gluten free, blablabla-free and super delicious version. Sour. 😛 Have a glass. Preferably a
Ep. 69 – and even more beautiful veggie lasagna
For years, a picture of a box of German lasagna haunted me. Between the layers of pasta you could see the juicy vegetables, super artistically arranged and layers of nauseating bechamel sauce. 🙂 Luckily I became an adult and discovered that, well, the recipes exist to be changed. :)) Which is why I started making
Ep. 68 – cornbread (gluten free)
Well, at the request of the fans we have the recipe earlier, but be careful, it comes with a disclaimer: this recipe is actually a great improvisation, built on the ingredients in the fridge. 🙂 I wanted to make cornbread – a kind of bread-cake made with corn, traditional in the southern USA (from what
Special ep. – peach jam
Well, I said it would be the easiest thing. I made quince jam in five minutes, so it would be the same. :)))) Yessss… or maybe not really. 😛 2 kilograms of peaches, well washed and cleaned of seeds and peeled (kept for a few minutes in hot water), plus 1 kilogram of nectarines. Plus
Ep. 67 – easy cooked yellow beans
Well, the success of this ultra fast food is green or yellow beans, freshly bought from the market or store. Fresh means that when you clean it, it has no threads and when you break it it is tender. I don’t know how to explain it to you very clearly, but I can show you.
Cookingbookclub 4
The book number four to read & cook is The Big Book of Backyard Cooking 250 Favorite Recipes for Enjoying the Great Outdoors. I guess you’ll like it a loooooot. 😀 Because we upgrade from the classic grilled minced meat rolls with potato salad, eaten outdoor to many variants of burgers, salads and other stuff.
Ep. 65 – beautiful meat lasagna
Well, in recent years lasagna has been wreaking havoc on my regular menu. 🙂 From “I don’t eat anything like that ever” to “be with vegetables or meat” believe me it took a lot of effort. And time. 🙂 The variant below is with meat and peas. Maybe you remember the ragu sauce, in which
Ep. 64 – biscuit salami (chocolate salami)
Well and what do we have here? Biscuit salami. ❤ Childhood dessert, comfort food, de-li-ci-ous, are all synonymous for the same thing, an easy dessert to make, whose recipe I learned in secondary school. Yes, I had some kind of cooking/ housekeeping classes from which I didn’t learn much, except the recipes for biscuit salami,
Special ep. – falafel with tzatziki
Falafel. With tzatziki. Episode 3. This round we have a book for my cooking level. That is a cooking book for children. The book is for children, not the cooking. So, listing the recipe, I took the recipe (also American, also in their quantities, but partially translated into my quantities) in my pocket and went
Special ep. – hummus with red peppers
It took me a lot to choose this month’s recipe, so that the summer came before me deciding, that’s why the good temperature outside have chosen for me, to bake peppers on the tiles on my terrace. Therefore the recipe: Humus with red peppers (baked on the tiles on the terrace)! It pairs with raw
Ep. 63 – feast with tortilla, salmon and…
Well, because obviously I didn’t get past the kindergarten age, no matter how hard I tried, I loved this month’s book. ❤ ❤ Which is why I cooked not one, not two, but three delicious recipes. 🙂 About a Sunday menu. Or for when your friends visit you and you want to impress them. Assuming
Cookingbookclub 3 | Children’s recipes
The third book proposed at the cookingbookclub in March / April was Ultimate Children’s Cookbook. I’m a big fan of colorful books (well, there is an explanation 🙂), with simple, nutritious and balanced recipes. What I liked about the book is that there are recipes that can be cooked by children or with children –
Ep. 62 – meatball soup
In the local culture, the classic meatball soup (or cousins, as we call it – is a Romanian language joke) is a test for the informal citizenship exam. If you destroy the aforementioned soup, you will have ninety years of bad luck, you will reincarnate as prime minister and you will never get married again.
Ep. 61 – pastas with tuna or broccoli
Many years ago I told an Italian how we eat pasta with breadcrumbs – an absolutely unimaginable thing :)) – and he gave me a recipe for pasta with tuna in exchange. Take a frying pan, throw in the contents of a can of tuna, some cloves of garlic, basil, salt, pepper, olive oil, chopped
Ep. 60 – banana pancakes with apple sauce
An option for the days when you don’t know what to eat for breakfast. 🙂 Banana pancakes are the version with a thick dough, which still flows easily. I made you dizzy, I know! :)) Well, the quantities are approximate, because I never measure the ingredients. Sorry. 🙂 A ripe banana, crushed with a fork,
Ep. 59 – office salad
Obviously I’m a big fan of salads. And more obviously I prefer food prepared from scratch, because in this way you can control the ingredients, calories, amount of salt, sugar and so on. Well, don’t think I was born with salads under my nose. 🙂 Plus it took me a while to form some skills
Ep. 58 – ragu
Ragu is a meat sauce invented in the XVIII-th century, which is combined with pasta. You’ve probably heard of bolognese sauce (ragu alla bolognese), which is not eaten with spaghetti, but with short pasta. Or ragu used in lasagna. I tried to make lasagna with meat about twice and it turned out pretty nasty, which
Cookingbookclub 3
And we came to book number 3 this year, to read & cook, which is Ultimate Children’s Cookbook. Well, the beginning of June is approaching, therefore it is a good time to rediscover the child in you (option 1) or to cook with your child (option 2). Of course there is also option 3, both
Ep. 57 – baked vegetables
More vegan than this, I do not know :))) Beets: washed, peeled, cut into thick slices, placed in a tray directly or on baking paper and sprinkled with oil, plus spices (salt, pepper, thyme, etc.). Bake over medium heat. Vegetable mix: carrot, celery, parsnip, red onion, zucchini, red pepper. The same principle, oil and spices,
Ep. 56 – pork and quince shaorma
What do you say there, Claudia, shaorma with whaaaaaat? Pork, arugula and quince, to be specific. 😛 Well, let me explain the process behind this disastrously good recipe. 🙂 I read and reread Bourdain and among drops of swearing, I cooked one, two, three things, depending on what was in the fridge. Of course, I
Special ep. – Ratatouille
So, my mouth watered at all the meats in this month’s cookbook, but I was afraid I’d go to the butcher’s and get a cleaver between my eyes if I start with: -Was this cattle fed on grass? -Yes, ma’am, is it possible? We feed only organic, eco, not sprinkled grass for export to our
Special ep. – potatoes salad
Episode 2. Carmen, list the recipe! So, the recipe. American and because of that, with American quantities. Meaning: 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, 1 tablespoon white vinegar, 1 tablespoon kosher salt, plus more to taste, 6 ounces thick-cut bacon, 1 cup Mayonnaise or store-bought mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, Freshly
Ep. 55 – beet and orange salad
Actually a garnish of 3 ingredients, but it became a salad due to my lack of inspiration. 🙂 Yes, sometimes it happens to me too… Beetroot, washed, cleaned and sliced, placed in a tray (I prefer on baking paper), greased with olive oil and spices (salt, pepper, thyme, etc.), put in the oven over medium
Cookingbookclub 2 | Bourdain’s recipes :)
The second book proposed at the cookingbookclub in March / April was Appetites: A Cookbook by Anthony Bourdain. I don’t know how you are, but every time I (re)read Bourdain I get incredibly hungry. :)) Problem number 2 is that I would cook all the recipes (but who else climbs the scales, whoooo ?: D),
Ep. 54- apple crumble
Grease a saucepan with a little butter. You gracefully throw away leftover apples, which you can use in a cake or compote, cleaned and cut into pieces or slices, it really doesn’t matter. Sprinkle with cinnamon and possibly cardamom and, if you want, sugar. On top, cover the layer of apples with the noodles made
Ep. 53 – crouton salad
Well, let me see, do you remember what you put in it? 🙂 Yesssss. ❤ Canned tuna, canned corn, grated carrot and celery cut into thin slices or cubes. With regular dressing, lemon and oil. The surprise is the homemade croutons. 🙂 Because I wanted to buy them from the store and Chef said that
Ep. 52 -fake Martini
For reasons beyond my control, I started my year with fake Martini. Which wasn’t a bad option. I mean, well, it could be much worse than that. :))) The recipe is extremely complicated and requires at least higher education. 😛 Fake Martini: tonic water, lemon juice, green olives. Pour into a glass, mix, add some
Ep. 51 – hummus
Well, I don’t know if I told you how excited I am about my blender. Until it, I used to have two options: to buy the hummus from the shop – sometimes is ok, other times not really or to use the meat grinder – a semi-horror experience. Ever since the blender, I threw all
Ep. 50 – marinated chicken with rice
Chicken breast, deboned and peeled, cut into small pieces. In a bowl, mix some soy sauce, honey and grated ginger (salt and pepper to taste). Add the chicken pieces and mix well, then leave them to marinate for about an hour. Fried in a wok or pan, in hot oil (be careful not to burn
